ETYMOTIC ER-6i - User Instructions
The earphones fit into the ear canals with either clear 2-flange eartips or foam eartips. The 3-flange eartips can be cleaned and reused.
Important:
- For best performance and the most solid bass response, the eartips must be inserted deeply in the ear canals.
- If one or both earphones stop working or has reduced volume, change the earphone filter. See Changing Filters for detailed instructions.
Insertion and Removal of Eartips
- For best results, moisten the soft plastic eartips before insertion. "R" on the earphone indicates right ear; "L" indicates left.
- Carefully insert one earphone at a time, pulling up and out on the back of the ear. The earphone should seal deeply and comfortably in the ear canal. For best bass response, earphones must be well sealed in the ear canals.
- When removing earphones, use a slow twisting motion to break the seal.
General Care
- Do not expose earphones to extreme temperatures.
- Avoid dropping or strong impact.
- Keep earphones away from water and dust.
- Do not pull on the cord to remove plug from the jack.
- Firmly grip the eartip with one hand and the earphone with the other.
- Carefully remove the eartip from the earphone.
- To remove dirt and earwax from the eartip, wash eartip with water and mild soap.
- Rinse and completely dry the eartip before placing it back on the earphone.
- With a slight twisting motion, push the eartip back onto the earphone until it fits securely.
Special filters were designed into the ER•6i Isolator Earphones to smooth the frequency response and prevent earwax from entering the earphones. These filters are located at the end of the earphones and are visible when the eartip is removed. A dirty filter will reduce or block the earphone output (a filter may be blocked without appearing to be dirty). If one or both earphones stop working, or if the volume decreases, the filter should be replaced. The frequency with which the filters need to be changed will vary widely among users. Replacement filters can be ordered in Accessories.

- Never wear earphones while operating a motorized vehicle. It may create a hazard and is illegal in many areas.
